Mediation is a dispute resolution process used to design a parenting plan following a separation or divorce. Parenting plans are unique to each family. They include agreements as to physical custody, legal custody, the parenting schedule, and a holiday and vacation schedule. Some families also choose to address other topics such as sports, extracurricular activities, childcare, substance abuse, and relocation. Parenting plans can be temporary and modifiable. Reaching your own agreement on such an important aspect of your children’s lives is easier, less stressful, and much less expensive than going to court to have these decisions made.
