Mediation is a dispute resolution process used to design a parenting plan following a separation or divorce. Parenting plans are unique to each family. They include agreements as to physical custody, legal custody, the parenting schedule, and a holiday and vacation schedule. Some families also choose to address other topics such as sports, extracurricular activities, childcare, substance abuse, and relocation. Parenting plans can be temporary and modifiable. Reaching your own agreement on such an important aspect of your children’s lives is easier, less stressful, and much less expensive than going to court to have these decisions made.
I have over 10 years’ experience doing court mediation, and am now thrilled to offer this service in my private practice. I am passionate about helping families work toward solutions in their children’s best interests. Appointments are scheduled in two-hour blocks. When parties come prepared with proposals, and have spent time discussing their ideas in advance, it is often possible to reach an agreement in one session. In more complex situations, additional sessions may be necessary. I am happy to consult with you about your situation to see if it would be appropriate for mediation.
